My Story
Sometimes the hardest moments push us toward where we truly need to be. The floods and the layoff were the catalysts that gave me the courage to chase this idea that had been circling my mind for years.
I'm from Paiporta, Valencia, and like many in our region, the catastrophic floods changed our lives. Amid the uncertainty and reflection that followed those devastating days, I realized I wanted to create something that truly mattered.
A few weeks later, my company announced layoffs. What was initially a hard blow became the perfect opportunity to pursue my passion: writing and programming.
As an amateur writer, I always felt existing tools didn't truly understand authors' needs. Scrivener is powerful but outdated, Google Docs is basic... There had to be something better.
The Eureka Moment
It was on the metro, heading home after a frustrating day trying to write on my phone. I had a perfect scene in my head—one of those moments where you know exactly how every dialogue sounds—but the app crashed, and I lost everything.
In that moment, I knew that if I, with 9 years of programming experience, couldn’t find a decent tool for writing, it was because it simply didn’t exist.
"That night, I got home and instead of continuing my novel, I started coding the tool I always wanted to use."
I tried using commutes on the metro to write, but all apps were generic, lacking narrative-specific features. I lost inspiration fighting with the interface.
My two novels in progress (one nearly finished) were scattered across Google Docs, phone notes, and Scrivener. I needed something that understood my workflow.
Writing complex worlds, morally gray characters, and interwoven plots requires tools that don’t exist. Generic apps don’t understand our specific needs.
Two Passions, One Tool
The perfect blend: technical expertise and real writer’s pain
From web apps to complex systems. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t in software development.
Two novels in progress, one nearly finished. I know the specific needs of creating complex worlds and deep characters.
My main frustration was not being able to write well on mobile. Tintero is designed mobile-first from day one.
I don’t believe in adding features for the sake of it. Every Tintero feature solves a real problem I’ve had as a writer.
My Philosophy
In a world dominated by big tech, Tintero is a reminder that the best software comes from those who truly understand the problem they’re solving.
"Every line of Tintero’s code is written with that magical moment in mind when words flow and you don’t want anything to interrupt you."
Tintero is in beta because I believe in iterative development. I’d rather release something functional and improve it with real writers’ feedback than wait years for a 'perfect product' no one wants to use.
I’m not just a programmer making software. I write, I know creative blocks, I’ve lost entire chapters due to poor backup tools.
I’m one person, not a big corporation. Every Tintero feature stems from a real need I’ve experienced as a writer.
My goal isn’t to get rich but to create a tool that truly helps other writers tell their stories.
What you can expect from Tintero and me as its creator
Every email, suggestion, and bug report is read by me personally. No intermediaries or departments.
As a personal project, I can iterate quickly. Improvements arrive in days or weeks, not years.
Your texts are yours. I don’t read them, analyze them, or sell them. Privacy is non-negotiable.
No tricks, hidden plans, or surprise increases. You pay what it costs to keep the servers running, period.
Unlike other tools, Tintero is mobile-first. Writing on mobile will never be a second-class experience.
Not a repurposed generic editor. Every feature is designed for the specific needs of writers.
Because we all love stats, especially writers
The Future
Tintero isn’t just a personal project; it’s my contribution to the writing world. I want new writers in 10 years to discover they can create their first works with tools that truly understand their creative process.
I’m building this alone for now, but every new beta user will be a key part of shaping Tintero’s future.
💡 Have an idea for Tintero?
As a writer, you know exactly what you need. As the sole developer, I can implement your ideas quickly. Let’s talk!
I’m currently polishing core features. The open beta will launch when I’m confident the basic experience is solid.
My dream is to create not just a tool but a community where writers can share experiences and support each other.
My goal is that in a few years, when someone asks, 'What’s the best app for writing on mobile?' the answer is unanimous: Tintero.
Join the beta and help me create the writing tool we’ve all been waiting for. Your feedback will be crucial in shaping Tintero’s future.
